Very slow connection on win98

Postby wifiwonder » Thu Nov 11, 2004 12:22 pm

Hi, I'm pretty new to wireless networking and I'm having problems setting up my (addmittedly old) Windows 98 Desktop PC with my wireless network.

I have a belkin ADSL modem with 802.11g wireless router built in and a belkin 54g PCI card in my PC. I've also got a laptop running windows XP which connects to the router fine and at a good speed. The problem is with my desktop, it's connected to the network (the IP is in the range set by the router) and it can occasionaly get a web page to appear but it's much slower than it should be. This is despite the fact it usually claims to be connected at a decent speed (36/48 or 54 Mbps). I've got 128bit WEP encryption enabled by the way. If anyone could help out with any suggestion as to the configuration I should have in my wireless network properties etc it would be a real help . I currently have the data encrytion (WEP enabled) box checked and have specified the network key.

Thanks
